Succeed in completing the coordinated transport of
water, land and ocean before the New Year
|
|
On the early of Dec. 2007, our Shanghai office received a letter of
invitation from an oil company, concerning freighting the drilling equipments
to port by sea from Saudi Arabia. Located in Sichuan, an inland region
of China, the cargoes were asked to ship to a port city. On receiving the invitation letter, with the principle of saving costs
for our clients and seeking the maximum profits, our company designed
three shipping plans carefully, that is, "Land and Rail Transport",
"Land Carriage"and "Portage" according to the cargoes
and the condition of Chinese inland transport market as well as the
shipping weather, road condition, etc. Those three plans had different
characteristics. Considering saving costs, reducing the risks, etc.,
we recommend the "Portage" plan for our clients. It is a plan
that the cargoes which after delivering from the manufactures are shipped
to an inland port by land-carriage, lade them there and then ship them
down along with Yangtze River to a port and then ship them ocean. On receiving the plan, compared the risks of Land Carriage and the uncertained time of the rail transport as well as the costs, etc., our client selected "Portage" finally. Careful plans and preparations in all aspects were made before we transport
those cargoes. For the ocean shipping of all the cargoes is handled
by us as well, in order to arrange it better, we divided the whole process
into different sections. Not only Gantt chart was made but also task
and dates are arranged respectively before the transportation. In the stage of "Land Carriage", making good use of local
Logistics information and vehicle resources, we finished the shipment
on time in safety. In the inland port, the whole procedures are well-organized because
lots of preparations were made for it. A large number of cargoes were
loaded into the ship directly which make the logistics tache more smoothly
and reached to the management requirement of supplying chain. After
the inland ship reached to a port, meanwhile, the ordered trans-ocean
vessel reached to a port after loading other cargoes from Tianjin Xinggang
Port. Finally, lading was finished successfully.
